Problem

Today's travelers are seeking authentic, inspiring, and personalized experiences but are universally met with the difficult chore of making a trip happen. The current travel landscape is a maze of disjointed self-serve transactions that suck the fun out of getting away. Contributing over 10% to the global GDP, the travel and tourism sector is on the brink of a significant transformation as consumers increasingly seek personalized, authentic experiences. Woven is well-positioned to deliver by providing a personal AI travel agent who’s affordable, available 24/7, anticipates questions, and shares local insights, captivating photos, maps, itineraries, pricing, and availability within seconds.

Leadership

Jonathan Downey 🇺🇸

Founder & Head of Product

Jonathan is a MIT software engineer, three-time AI/ML-startup founder, and 3rd generation pilot with a lifelong passion for travel. Jonathan founded Woven to make consumer travel more meaningful and easeful. An entrepreneur from an early age, Jonathan developed his first product at 16 which led to a patent and more than $50M in revenue. A YC alum, Jonathan has 10+ years of experience leading startups as CEO and has raised over $100M from top investors, including A16Z, Kleiner Perkins, Signalfire, First Round Capital, and GV. His first startup, Airware, helped shape the commercial drone industry and was a deep-tech company with 100+ people across hardware, flight controls, cloud services, and AI-driven analytics and insights. After an EIR at Signalfire, Jonathan founded Candidate Labs which combined human experts with a ML platform to accelerate hiring for venture-backed startups, achieving $15M+ in revenue, profitability, and the #1 spot on G2 crowd. Jonathan holds numerous patents and has been recognized for awards including MIT Tech Review's "35 Innovators Under 35."

Ryan Stevens 🇺🇸

Founder & VP of Engineering

Ryan has over 15 years of experience building high-caliber engineering teams and consumer products, initially in eCommerce for Altrec, then in music tech at Bandpage, and later in fintech at LendingClub. At Bandpage he was involved in cataloging the universe of bands and music which led to the company being acquired by Google. Ryan was responsible for major aspects of consumer growth engineering. His projects contributed to LendingClub growing loan origination volume by $1.9B. Most recently, Ryan was a co-founder & CTO of Candidate Labs along with Jonathan. This paradigm shift resulted in $300M in savings for the company, and enabled a new era of driver-centric product development in an app that is nearly always focused on a map. Meanwhile, Eliot has cultivated a growing passion in LLMs and agentic applications by voraciously reading and implementing papers in his spare time. He’s excited to be doing this full time at Woven!
